Friends of Edmands Park, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

This shady 33-acre park is situated near the BC campus in Newton, MA. Originally part of the Edmands estate, the property was donated to the city in 1913. It features natural unpaved pathways and is almost completely forested.

Initial Pollinator Planting: We have successfully planted over 80 individual plants and over 30 different native species in our pollinator garden. Plants were sourced from Middlesex Conservation District in Lincoln and also generously donated from our Newton Conservators advisor, Jon Regosin. The species include: Showy & Early Goldenrod, New England Liatris, White-Flowered Aster, Big Bluestem, White Meadowsweet, Black-eyed Susan, Spotted Beebalm, Cutleaf & Purple Coneflower, and Hairy Beardtongue.

Plans for Future Expansion



Pollinators, such as bees and insects, need to reproduce and thrive in Newton. Future plantings and gardening are planned and we welcome volunteers. Check out the initial garden that is located close to the north Blake Street entrance.

In January 2025 we planted winter seedlings which have matured and were added to the garden since the spring. We also purchased and used donated plants. In total we have over 30 plant species and 80 individual plants. Here is a listing of some of the species we started with:

Our organization’s mission is to organize and support the maintenance, preservation, enhancement and improvement of Edmands Park. We also aim to promote safety, cleanliness, and functionality within the park while maintaining its current use.
